That could have an even worse meaning than you suspect.

Years ago, when I used to ride buses in Taipei, it was very common to see the following graffitti scrawled in white-out on the back of the seats:

找馬子

This was a not very polite way for a boy to indicate that he was looking for a "girlfriend"...
