Hippo injured in transport

I had the misfortune to visit the Skyzoo in Taichung, today. A thoroughly depressing & worrying experience.

Deeply unhappy horses & ponies. One of which bit my daughter on the leg, unprovoked but I understand its pain :D.
A mad chinchilla in a small cage.
Tiny plastic pond for a couple of swans.
Chained parrots and macaws, one of them was engaged in trying to bite the links off.
A grass-less wasteland of hoof prints for alpacas etc., large enough - aye - but a complete dustbowl.

My father-in-law paid $1900 for 6 adults & 2 kids. It was money well wasted.

On the way out, my wife paid $20TWD to allow our daughter a 'ride' on an excavator. No helmets, no safety, nothing. I turned back and the operator was messing around with the front of the machine high in the air, on fairly unstable ground. I'm sure he knows what he's doing, until he doesn't.
It's raining again here.

A wicked wind whips up the hill, a handful of hopeful words.

Govt puts together laws, which nobody follows and which no enforcement is made. That is Taiwan.

The laws are there to govern private keep of animals now. I read that from now all dogs and cats must be microchipped and their owner listed. IF only they would enforce those laws protecting animals.
