OP, what is the nature of your job? And what is the name of your company (if that information isn't too sensitive to share)?

This is getting interesting. They are claiming that they do not have to comply with Taiwan laws because they are an American company. My paycheck comes out of US, and I have an American boss, but I live and work in Taiwan and have ARC, pay taxes, insurance etc.

Does anyone know for sure if I'm protected by Taiwan law? Seems reasonable. If what they are saying is true, then probably it's okay for a Thailand company to setup shop in US and pay workers $0.50/hour. I think they are totally wrong.

Their claim sounds like bs, but to be safe, try to find someone who's dealt with similar cases before in Taiwan.

Do they pay taxes in Taiwan? They should be registered here somehow. They cannot comply selectively, then.

They've been doing business in Taiwan for 25 years. Have several factories and offices here. Most certainly they are paying taxes and registered.

Yup. In the works. I was trying to work with them, but they are too stupid for their own good. Now today I learned they are cancelling my work permit backdated. I had no chance to file the extension.

Go to NIA anyways. By law, you are entitled to an extension up to 6 months to look for another job.
