Discussions about how to find those things that are not immediately obvious

3) Please post separately  for each search item, not one thread for "olives and sour cream". Two threads, one for each. This makes it much easier for the moderator to merge your thread with an existing one, if any.

Edited: Please disregard the information in this post. This information is incorrect. Following the information in this post could result in a violation of customs regulations. My apologies for the mistake. -- Charlie Jack

I don't know anything about it, and I wouldn't want to mislead you, but just in case no one answers your question, I've seen something or other along those lines advertised on Taobao.com:

https://world.taobao.com/item/531238441 ... 0.0.VwXZ2e

https://world.taobao.com/item/528043485 ... 0.0.3zIRR5

This Taipei Times article from 2013 says that people can have Taobao.com orders delivered to Family Mart, but I'm not sure if that's still the case these days:

It'd be nice if someone showed up with something better.

Check your local PX Mart or any store of that type that carries food and household goods. :2cents:

Carrefour, A Mart and RT Mart all have a huge selection of insecticides. Wellcome should have a more limited choice of them too. Not sure if you need something specific to get rid of bed bugs, the general-purpose ones are mostly pyrethroid (permethrin) derivatives.

You can still have Taobao stuff delivered but both insecticides and pressurized containers are on the list of items prohibited from international shipping: https://www.taobao.com/go/chn/transit/interdict.php

At the very least you would have to use a third-party forwarder that allows them, and possibly still face some problems clearing the customs in Taiwan. It'd hardly be worth the hassle as basically any supermarket should have some selection of the same or similar Raid-branded insecticides.

Yikes! Thanks for that! I could wind up doing more harm than good!

Please disregard my post, PapaAzucar. Sorry for the misinformation!

With regards to local stores insecticides, I've only seen sprays for ants, roaches, mosquitoes, and similar pests.
I'm thinking of maybe trying a pet store for flea sprays. The Raid Max is for both bed bugs and fleas so maybe fleas sprays or powder will kill the bed bugs as well?
I'm looking for ways to sanitize a 2-year old mattress which had many people sleep on it. Even with a mattress pad and changed sheets, I don't feel comfortable.

I've never heard of bed bugs in Taiwan. Are you certain the mattress has them? These are some formidable creatures. From what I know, the best way to get rid of them is not an insecticide but temperature treatment (> 50°C or < -20°C for a couple of minutes).

On the other hand, if the mattress is "just" dirty then spraying insecticide on it won't make it any more pleasant. Was it expensive? You can get a new basic IKEA mattress for ~ 2,000 TWD:

Just some food for thought.
