Birding in Taiwan

Birding in Taiwan

Postby Mucha Man » 13 Sep 2006, 23:45

Just found this website. Looks good. Lots of pics and info on birds, and even birding tours. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow at work. Looking at tits.

“Everywhere else in the world is also really old” said Prof. Liu, a renowned historian at Beijing University. “We always learn that China has 5000 years of cultural heritage, and that therefore we are very special. It appears that other places also have some of this heritage stuff. And are also old. Like, really old.”

Really great, yes. Great colours and crisp focus.

Any time I try to photograph a bird it ends up as a smudgy little black dot in the picture, whatever colour it was originally!

Thirded about that birding blog. Fantastic shots there. I wish I could do shots like that, but I'd probably need a car, a longer telephoto lens (I looked at the EXIF data and saw he's shooting with a Nikon 600/4mm lens. Those puppies cost a mere $6000), and a hell of a lot more patience. Birders are hard-core, man.

My old camera broke and I got a new Olympus SP-310. It's one of those fancy compact cameras that offers full manual control as well as various modes. So I managed to progress out of my "birds as black dots" stage and got this reasonable snap of something which I'm told is a heron.
